Creative Arts Evening Viral Video
During this creative arts evening we decided to create a viral video for our music vid in doing this we would be able to gain a wider audience and therefore gain more feedback and views for our main video as a result. Also this viral video would help us with the research and planning for our main video.
How we went about doing this was that we had set up a green screen in one of our classrooms in school which was done with green card sheets. Then we had a camera set up so that the green screen was in the whole frame. We got lots of people from our school on the night to stand in front of the camera and dance to our track which was on some speakers in the back ground.
When all the footage was shot we then edited the footage into our viral video sequence which was done in final cut pro a programme which allows you to edit footage of anything. We added many effects where by we took pictures and added them into the background of the footage which made it look like the people were actually at the scenes on screen. This was done by using the effect "chroma keying" of which can edit out and remove a specific block colour from the video. In our case this was the green background.
Here is our Viral Video:

Digipak General Conventions
![]() |
Oasis DigiPak |
Looking at a few examples of the digipak the oasis one has 3 inner panels and a front and a back panel, this is a complicated type of digipak but is very achievable in what we want to do, However choosing the correct and appropriate images for these panels is key if the digipak is to do its job by promoting the CD
![]() |
Conventional DigiPak |
This DigiPak is the more conventional one where by it only has 2 inside panels and a front and back panel which has usually a picture on the front which is then either continued on the back or is of another view of the front picture an example of this is the Native Woodlands Digipak below where by the wooded area picture on the front continues onto the back
Common features in these 2 panel digipaks are the related images to the music video or one of the songs usually the main song or the most know song for that artist. Also another key common convention would be that inside is another picture which runs over both of the panels or just the left hand panel. Sometimes there is even a booklet or pull out sleeve which has the lyrics on it and a bit more information about the songs and the artists.

Also a common convention which you will usually see on the back of the digipak cover is a barcode which is for the sale of the digipak and this is seen on almost every cover. A barcode is an optical machine-readable bit of data which is scanned by the varying the widths and spacings of the parallel lines.

Twitter Page (TeamGob)
This is our own team twitter page which we have set up to gain world wide feedback from a range of different sources from all over the world and from those who know a lot about the music video business and therefore can only benefit us when gaining such feedback. We feel that having a twitter account will also make our knowledge of the genre and the track much better by getting specific feedback from people and followers who like the type of music and the track we are doing our coursework on.

Learning A New Editing Effect (1)
Here i am trying to learn how to turn a still 2D image into a 3D tracking/panning shot as if we filmed the video.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP953Rz0Ir4_mVwmotKQpgOQBQn_d2pnmAiB3GjczXomaXHIqdhk22u5Gu57_raSXeazwzo01398jkxmNLrbNPex3lPKRxrdFCQaviQvLYrVYWeWY0nEVT0-UXbcvUeYnAmvzzdZ2MtaJV/s320/Screen+shot+2013-11-20+at+14.33.41.png)
This is really useful as you can use any image and turn it into a video with a realistic feel of being there.
After watching the tutorial i have learnt that i need to use virtual cameras within the composition. By creating a Grid and camera tracking you can create this realistic effect.
By using curves, null objects and artificial lights we can turn any 3D image into a video. the only down side to this is that it will take around 20 minutes to make a 5-10 sec clip.
I have already used After Effects behind and used 3D cameras and objects within the composition so i will find this roughly straight forward.
We are thinking of implementing this with the old man inputted onto the image dancing, by filming him separate on a green screen.

Music Video Idea 2

20103 Movie of Bad Grandpa |
Disclosure - F For You (Music Video Analysis)
ACT: Disclosure
Main Audience: 15-21
Introduction
Is the music video performance based, narrative based or concept based?
TRACK: F For You
Year: 2013
Director:
Genre: House
Introduction
- The genre of this music video is techno/dance/pop.
- Compared to all their other videos it is very simple with no storyline.
- There are no actual links between the lyrics and the visuals as it is just them performing.
- You can see quite clearly the relationship between the music and the visuals.
- When the music gets more complex, the backdrop starts to have more going on on it.
- Also when they are doing the DJ instrumental parts of the song, the camera focuses on the instrumental and DJ set up.
- They also do this with the singing.

- There are plenty of close ups of the boys while they are playing and singing.
- Mostly close ups of the one singing and not so many on the one who DJ's the most.
- Dark lighting and quick camera shots make it hard to see the artists properly when there are close ups of them.
- Their famous drawn white 'face' comes up a lot on the backdrop so you know it is them immediately.

Is the music video performance based, narrative based or concept based?
- This music video is purely performance based.
- No narrative told throughout.
- Its quite a repetitive song so the pure performance fits with the style of song.

Disclosure - White Noise ft. AlunaGeorge
ACT: Disclosure
TRACK: White Noise
Year: 2013
Director:
Genre: House
Main Audience: 15-21
Main Points
- The genre of this music video is electronic, deep house.
- Dull colours used throughout.
- Dance song, dancing used in the video.
- The only relationship i can see between the lyrics and the visuals is that the lyrics 'You got me washed out, washed out, colour drained' links to the colour of the whole video because it is very dull and there are no bright colours.
- Other than that there is no connection between the lyrics and the visuals.
- The music and the visuals have a very strong link.
- When the first beat drops the man suddenly starts to dance in time with the music.
- When the music slows down again the guy gets on with his everyday life again, it's almost as if when the music drops he drops his life for a few minutes and dances.
- There are no close ups or any shots for that matter of the artists.
- There are only actors in the music video.
- The sign for Disclosure (the face drawn with white lines) comes up at one point in the music video which shows it is their song and them who made it.
- There isn't really any reference to the notion of looking apart from the girl.
- She is shown close up towards the end and this shows some voyeurism.
- There is a little bit of the Male Gaze theory involved but not much at all.

colour filter is used to emphasize
the lighting taking place throughout. This emphasizes the shadows in the music video, which when the security guard dances helps to give a greater effect of his movements. Slow motion of the dancing is used to add effect of the beat and works really well. The locations that are used throughout the music video help convey the genre of the music itself, which is urban/electronic dance. The emptiness of the location in the video is filled up with the beats of the music.

Editing
Teh editing in this video has a huge effect on how the audience views the music video where by it is totally slowed down when the main singer is on screen and is singing it gives it an effect where by you see him as being powerful and a lot more important than the rest of the characters and people on the screen as he is centre framed too aldo the editing when the lights are flashed and dimmed which is sown in this screen shot here it gives it a more glamarous effect.
Lip Syncing
Shot Framing
Shot framing is key when shooting a music video and in this video the shot framing works well and this if shown her in this picure and it shows the main and key elements of the video here by this shot glass being centre frame it works well and it draws the viewers attention to it so that it makes it more iconic for the video.

Locations
The locations which we have decided to shoot our A2 music video vary from however we might not decide to use all the footage used and shot at all of these locations and only use some, these are;
- Ilkley Town
- Leeds Town (Briggate)
- Beat Bar (Leeds)
- Ilkley Park
- Care Home
- Various Shops around town
- Train Station
- Leeds Briggate
- Leeds Victoria Quarter
As mentioned before not all of these locations will necessarily be shot due to it being too confusing to the audience, However we need to have enough shots of different locations to achieve a sense of verisimilitude which will help our media production look better. We feel that the locations we have chosen to shoot at will look good if edited well. These locations will look good due to it being in the real life setting of a town and a park and a elderly peoples care home which we have acsess too so that again will achieve more verisimilitude

Characters, Costume and Makeup
In our music video idea we will be including several characters. However the main character included in the music video of whom will be in the majority of all shots will be the Old Man character. This will be played by Patrick Pointon using the disguise. The disguise will consist of a mask, glasses, flat cap, black gloves, chords (trousers), white creamy shirt, blazer, glasses, shoes and a walking stick. All of this will create verisimilitude and crete a realistic looking character for the music video. This character and the others will not be needing to use makeup as there is no other fancy dress to be worn.
The other characters in the video will be our friends at the party of which we will be filming. This will be perfect as the peoples costumes will create verisimilitude of a party to suit the music genre. The last people in the video will be the audience and crowd of whom we will be filming there reactions to the old man. These play a key part in the video as it will create a sense of realism and prank styled feel to the video.
